AILinux — AI-Native Linux & AI Ecosystem
Linux with an AI operator.
AILinux is an Ubuntu-derived Linux platform built around a simple idea: keep the operating system, files, services, tools and execution local — while AI inference can be routed through interchangeable external or local model providers. The result is a Linux system that can inspect, adapt, build, debug and administer itself through an agent instead of forcing every workflow into a browser tab.

AILinux does not turn Linux itself into a black box. The OS remains a normal, inspectable Linux system. ai-coder acts as the operator, TriForce handles authentication, model routing and MCP tooling, and inference can be outsourced to whichever provider is available and appropriate for the task.
One ecosystem, several layers.
The AILinux projects are designed to work together instead of becoming isolated AI applications.
AILinux 26.04
The current AMD64 desktop distribution with the AILinux software stack, repository integration and AI tooling ready to become part of the normal Linux workflow.
ai-coder 1.2.6
CLI and PyQt6 coding/DevOps agent with autonomous tool loops, controlled local system access, MCP tooling, model fallback and a 300-second default model timeout for heavy work.
TriForce Backend
The control and API plane behind AILinux: authentication, provider abstraction, model routing, availability feedback, MCP tools, federation and backend services.
Nova AI
The browser-facing AI environment for chat and platform services, connected to the same TriForce infrastructure used by the desktop and system agents.
CopaOCR 2.2.8
Fast screenshot-to-clipboard OCR for Linux and Windows. Select a screen region, recognize the text and continue working with the result immediately.
AILinux Client
A desktop AI client for users who want model access, AILinux services and system-adjacent workflows in a native interface rather than a browser-only experience.

Provider choice instead of provider lock-in.
TriForce can route AILinux clients across multiple model backends. That means the system can keep working when a specific provider, model entitlement or quota is unavailable, as long as another configured route is usable.
Describe the desired state, then let the agent do the work.
Development
Inspect a repository, implement a change, run tests, build packages and verify the produced artifacts.
System administration
Read logs and configuration, diagnose services, apply controlled changes, restart components and verify health.
Adaptive setups
Turn a general Linux installation into a development, server, creator or AI workstation through explicit system tasks.
Recoverable automation
Use model fallback, tool results, tests and system state to recover from failed steps instead of silently pretending a task succeeded.
AILinux in practical terms
Does AILinux require a powerful local GPU?
No. The architecture can keep system execution local while routing inference to external providers. Local Ollama routes can also be used when appropriate.
Is the AI model hard-wired into the operating system?
No. ai-coder and TriForce separate the agent and provider layers from Linux itself, so models and providers can be changed without redesigning the OS.
Can the agent actually change the system?
Yes, when the relevant tools and permissions are enabled. Writes and elevated operations are governed by the configured local approval and privilege policy.
Where do I start?
Download AILinux 26.04 for the complete system, or install ai-coder 1.2.6 on an existing compatible Linux installation.
Use Linux. Give the AI the tools to operate it.
AILinux combines a normal Linux execution environment with an interchangeable AI layer that can plan, act and verify real work.
