Tony Hawk Is Auctioning His Gear And Board He Used When He Did An Iconic Trick

The X Games had established itself as the place for more extreme sports competitions by the late 1990s. Tony Hawk became the first skater to successfully execute the 900 flip–a two-and-a-half-revolution aerial spin–after 10 failed attempts, revolutionized the sport, and helped launch his own video game series. Now, some lucky fan can own the gear and board Hawk used to perform the trick at X Games ’99.

Dubbed „the 900 collection,“ the lot is made not only of the Birdhouse Falcon 2 board, but also the shoes, kneepads, and even Hawk’s professional credentials for the show.

For skateboarding, that moment arrived on June 27, 1999, delivered by the undisputed pioneer of modern vertical skateboarding, Tony Hawk,“ Julien’s Auctions said about the lot. „This is more than just a deck; it’s the very board, the Birdhouse Falcon 2 outfitted with Fury brand trucks and unmarked wheels, that Tony Hawk rode into legend during his historic performance at the 1999 X Games in San Francisco.“
