Though I have now spent almost a decade in the software industry, when it comes to community platforms like Reddit or LinkedIn or Substack, I often end up faltering a lot before posting my thoughts or adding comments on posts though I might have something healthy and valuable to contribute with.
I somehow tried to overcome the hesitation and started blogging on Substack. However, a single bad/harsh comment ruined my whole day. I felt deeply undervalued because someone said my article, which I worked on for over a week, is an AI generated slop. I felt my week-long effort and energy was thrown to trash just by a single comment.
Upon retrospective, I somehow realised I do this because I am scared of public evaluation and judgement. Which meant, I am a digital introvert, though not in social gatherings. I get along with people easily in real life but struggle to do so through social media engagements.
Do you think this is a common quirk that any of you or someone you know experienced? Do you have any practical and organic ideas to overcome it?
Apologies if this post doesn’t fit in here.
