Sega’s Virtua Fighter series is set for a comeback with its new project now officially in development. While it does seem like an absolute guarantee it’s happening at this point, the head of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Masayoshi Yokoyama has made it clear the team will stop work if it’s not up to scratch.
In a chat with Famitsu (translated by EventHubs), Yokoyama acknowledged how this particular IP was “carved into Sega’s history” and there was absolutely no intention of delivering this new project “half-heartedly”. If it’s not up to the standard required, he’s apparently willing to make some tough decisions.
