AILinux Google Drive 0.2.6 Stable — FUSE/KIO audit release
AILinux Google Drive 0.2.6 Stable is now available.
This release follows a full multi-pass architecture, FUSE, lifecycle and desktop-integration audit. It keeps the native Google OAuth 2.0 + Drive API v3 + FUSE3 architecture and hardens the filesystem behavior for long-running desktop use.
Key fixes in 0.2.6
- KIO/Dolphin compatibility: directory listings now explicitly expose
.and.., eliminating the previous DolphinUDSEntry for '.' not foundwarning. - Safer mount ownership: the client verifies that a mount is specifically
ailinux-google-drive/fuse.google-drivebefore cleanup or unmount. Unrelated filesystems are never automatically detached. - Mountpoints with spaces: mount detection uses structured
findmnt --jsonoutput. - Configured metadata cache: the GUI cache-TTL value is now propagated to the real FUSE daemon.
- FUSE inode lifecycle: lookup accounting and
forget()cleanup prevent long-running inode-map growth. - Google-native documents: Docs/Sheets/Slides link representations are read-only rather than pretending to be writable blob files.
- Write recovery: dirty local write-cache files are preserved if the final Drive upload fails.
- Safer rename replacement: an existing destination is only trashed after the source rename/move succeeds.
- XDG compliance: config, cache and autostart paths follow the user’s XDG environment.
- Generic file-manager action: the UI now uses Open in Files through
xdg-open. - Explicit xdg-utils dependency for reliable default-file-manager opening.
Reliability from 0.2.5 retained
- Supervised
systemd --userFUSE mount with automatic restart - Stale FUSE recovery
- Single-instance GUI
- Race-free atomic settings writes
- Serialized Google backend I/O to avoid thread-unsafe TLS transport use
- Secret Service/KWallet DBus connection reuse
- Desktop-aware integration for KDE/Dolphin, GNOME/Nautilus, Cinnamon/Nemo, Xfce/Thunar, MATE/Caja, LXDE/LXQt and other common desktops
Verification
The final package passed 23/23 tests, package/desktop/systemd validation and real read-only desktop testing with a live Google account.
During the final runtime test, parallel reads completed successfully, no new mount warnings were produced, Dolphin opened the mounted Drive without the previous KIO UDSEntry warning, and a deliberately killed FUSE daemon was restarted automatically by systemd with the mount becoming readable again.
