Sony no longer holds the record for USA launch month sales. As expected, the Nintendo Switch 2’s humongous 1.6 million opening has stomped the PS4’s still impressive 1.1 million debut.
It’s perhaps worth remembering that the PS5 probably had a shot at putting up similar numbers back in 2020, but it dropped in the thick of the pandemic. As a result, its supply was severely constrained for several years.
