New to Prime Day? We have a primer on everything you need to know. Sales are accurate at the time of publication, but prices and inventory are always subject to change.
ChromeOS is sometimes dismissed as being little more than a web browser, but that’s why I like it: It’s simple, it’s lightweight, it’s always up to date; backups are instant; and as I spend all of my computing time in a web browser anyway, I don’t really have any need for the extras that Windows and macOS bring with them.
Another benefit of Chromebooks: affordability. The 15.6-inch Acer Chromebook Plus 515 is now down to $329.99 from $429.99 for Amazon Prime Day. According to price tracker websites, this laptop is now the cheapest it’s ever been, and it’s the perfect opportunity to upgrade your Chromebook (or switch to ChromeOS).
This is a Chromebook Plus model, which means it’s in the upper tier of Chromebooks, and comes with a variety of Google AI features on board: Gemini, NotebookLM, and more. Your purchase of this Chromebook gets you 12 months of Google AI Pro as well, which would otherwise set you back $20 a month.
You get a spacious 15.6-inch touchscreen here, plus an integrated webcam, a capable Intel Core i3 processor, and 8GB of RAM. There’s even a protective sleeve included in the deal for keeping the laptop protected on the go. Add all of that up, including the Google AI Pro subscription, and you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck.
Looking for something else? Retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and Home Depot have Prime Day competition sales that are especially useful if you don’t have Amazon Prime.
