AILinux Status Update: Nova Forum Assistant Is Back Online
The AILinux forum assistant is running again.
After today’s debugging session, the forum bot path has been verified end to end. The backend itself was not dead, and forum access was working. The issue was the final model route used by the forum assistant for answer generation.
Current status
- Backend API: healthy
- Ollama: healthy, with 55 models available
- Redis: healthy
- Search service: healthy
- Forum connection: working
- Nova forum assistant: active
What changed
- The Nova Flarum bot was verified as an active systemd service.
- The bot state file is working and prevents already processed posts from being handled again after restarts.
- The model route used for answer generation was corrected.
- A dry-run through the bot code returned the expected result.
Why this matters
This is an important step for AILinux because the assistant is no longer just a local chat feature. Nova can now be connected to the public support and community layer around AILinux. That makes the system more than a Linux distribution with AI tools: it becomes an AI-connected desktop and service ecosystem.
The current goal is not to add another experimental feature, but to make the existing path reliable, observable, and easy to maintain.
Next steps
- Test the assistant with a real new forum post.
- Commit the current forum bot fix.
- Add a small watchdog check for the forum assistant path.
- Improve logging around model routing issues.
- Prepare optional routing for newer capable models where they make sense, especially for structured output and tool-aware responses.
Small fix, big consequence: the forum assistant path is alive again.
